A warm and friendly welcome awaits visitors to the dramatic South Pennines, an area still remarkably untouched by tourism. Walkers on the Pennine Way will find attractive valley towns like Delph, Uppermill, Marsden and Hebden Bridge and there are equally interesting routes over Blackstone Edge with the Roman Road, the Rossendale Way, the Calderdale Way and the Colne Valley Circular.
Our textile heritage is magnificently illustrated in Golcar's Colne Valley Museum, the Helmshore Museum at Haslingden, and the Saddleworth Museum at Uppermill, and craft centres and mill shops abound. For shopping, restaurants and nightlife you can't beat cosmopolitan Manchester.
