Lancashire
Lancashire is a truly beautiful county, areas of which still await discovery by many visitors - a treat lies in store for them. The bracing, northern coastline encompasses the resorts of Morecambe, Arnside and Silverdale, lively Blackpool with its famous illuminations and elegant Southport.
The scenic countryside of Forest of Bowland, Ribble Valley and Pendle are rich in wildlife and offer excellent walking. While market towns like Clitheroe with its castle and such unspoilt villages as Barley, Downham (where 'Whistle Down the Wind' was filmed) and Wycoller offer havens away from the hustle and bustle. The area is also known for its 'Hetty Wainthrop' connections: and for bargain hunters, we have some of the best mill shops in the country.
