Cheshire
Cheshire is one of England's undiscovered counties. Renowned for lovely black and white architecture and its superb cheese, it is a county of contrasts. From the majesty of the Peak District across the Cheshire Plain to the Dee estuary, from North Wales to Manchester, from the Shropshire Hills to Liverpool.
Cheshire has something for everyone. The county has a rich history, well documented for visitors. with Roman remains in Chester, Elizabethan towns like Nantwich, fine castles and country mansions and museums about the industrial revolution such as Styal Museum at Northwich or Paradise Silk Mill at Macclesfield. Cheshire offers many peaceful country pursuits: there are canals, wonderful walking (from the Sandstone Trail to shorter farm walks), cycling and fishing.

There are beautiful gardens in Cheshire - country house, botanical and municipal - plus two of Europe's largest garden centres, Bridgemere Garden World and Stapley Water Gardens. Chester, the county town, is one of Britain's top tourist destinations. Situated on the River Dee with a splendid cathedral and unique Rows, it offers sophisticated shopping facilities as well as a fine heritage.
