| Situated midway between Newcastle and Carlisle, the cottage provides an excellent base to explore the Roman sites and Museums in the Northumberland National Park, including Hadrians Wall which is 6 miles from the historic market town of Hexham. The Metro Centre and wonderful Outdoor Museum at Beamish are just a leisurely drive away, as is the Cathedral city of Durham. The Scottish Borders and Northumberland coast are within easy reach.

| From the doorstep there are miles of forest tracks and country lanes for walkers and mountain bikers. Fish in the nearby Linnel Wood Lake or enjoy a round of golf on one of several local courses. Picnic on the banks the Derwent Reservoir or treat yourself to afternoon tea in the picturesque village of Blanchland. A small shop, post office and two pubs serving food (one with an excellent adventure playground) are within 1½ miles of the cottage, whilst the prestigious Slaley Hall Hotel and golf course are less than 2 miles away.
